Information for patients who do not have health insurance or who choose not to use insurance to pay for their care.
Your right to a Good Faith Estimate
If you do not have health insurance or choose not to use your insurance to pay for care, you generally have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining the expected cost of your healthcare services.
You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling care. Good Faith Estimates are also generally provided when eligible services are scheduled at least three business days in advance.
If a bill from a provider or facility is at least $400 more than the Good Faith Estimate from that provider or facility, you may be eligible to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
